It's Oscars night

Fabolous dresses, bets and predictions, memorables acceptance speeches, awkward "back-up smiles" when the camera catches you in a bad mood, the after parties (we can only dream of and see the recaps on the news because we weren't invited), the occasional surprise sweep by an underrated movie (my favorite)..........
Everybody is looking fantastic, but I can't wait for the main course to start.
I love this night of the year.

Veronica Mars reunion on "Party Down"

Rob Thomas who brought us Veronica Mars is directing "Party Down", a tv show about the employees of "Party Down Catering", who are wannabe- actors working events ranging from sweet 16 parties to adult-films awards after parties.

The tv show is scheduled to air on march 20, 2009 on the Starz cable channel.

This show is the perfect opportunity for Veronica Mars fans out there to see a large group of the actors together again even as guest stars, after the horror we've all been through to come to terms with the end of the show (a very dark summer 2007).

Here are some familiar faces invited to the upcoming "Party Down":

Kristen Bell (guest star)

Lizzy Caplan (The Class, True Blood..)

Jason Dohring (Moonlight, Veronica Mars)

Ryan Hansen (Friday the 13th, Veronica Mars)

Jane Lynch (The L-Word, Two and a Half Men)

Ken Marino (Reaper, Veronica Mars)

Adam Scott

Martin Starr (Knocked up, Bill Haverchuck from Freaks & Geeks)

Pictures from Seattle Grace

Heartbreaking scene of the death of Denny Dukett

Oh wait..Did I say death? I meant rebirth

Yes it's true, Denny is a cylon and Meredith always looks like a step away from suicide

Dead woman walking (sorry I mean drop dead gorgeous)

Last sane doctor around here= no recent breakdown, that's a record

What did she do to the writers to deserve such a painful love life

Rory's grandpa decided to join the drama

Dr Sheperd: "I'm a god among men"...

...Yes you are.

Most beautiful character on the show

and for the finish...

Is Shonda Rhimes toying with us ?

If you don't already know her, Shonda Rhimes is the creator and writer of Grey's Anatomy. She recently released a press update on the cast troubles, the rumours of Katherine Heigl leaving and whatnot, "reassuring" the viewers that the precedent articles and media bits weren't true.
According to her, the rumours began after the press misquoted actor James Pickens Jr. (who plays Chief Dr. Richard Webber) when he was asked about the actors leaving. "Tv.com" reported the words of the actor talking about Katherine Heigl : "Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best." Of Knight, he said, "He's going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths."

Now that things seem to have been cleared up, my point of view about the future of the show hasn't changed. Needless to say, I'm not buying the back and forth and the excuses delivered by the show execs, I'm staying with my original prognostic: Katherine Heigl is indeed leaving, if not at the end of the season, it will happen somewhere at the beginning of next season.
Why?, several recurring cues are too numerous to be ignored:
  • Katherine Heigl have had many arguments with the writers about her character having less and less substance on the script.
  • The off-camera relationships between the actors are often subjects to gossip and newsworthy (not the off-screen hooking ups kind of news ). First, there was the on-set dispute between Patrick Dempsey and Isiah Washington, next we had the feud between T.R. Knight and Isiah Washington about the "F" word, then Brooke Smith was "let go" from her role as Dr Hahn for reasons that still remain a mystery to me.

So yes, anything is possible in the near future of Seattle Grace, the question is: Are we ready for what is to come ? I know I'm not because Grey's is the most depressing thing on TV (seriously every thursday night is filled with tears and nervous breakdowns, I know they are humans but aren't doctors supposed to come to terms with the eventuality of death, at least for a week?), and I'm definitely not ready to say goodbye to Izzie.
